So, I left Bristol-Myers Squibb yesterday after a career of 33.77 years. (That is the number on a document that I received from HR.) When I started in 1982, I was not sure that I would last a year, so the last 33 have been quite a bonus. Having a full-time job has increasingly gotten in the way of the things that interest me more, so freeing up my time should be a great help.
I have started a 366 photography project. These are normally called 365 projects; this is a leap year, which makes it a 365. The goal is to post at least one photo every day. If I can do this, I should improve my work. I need to improve, because the last few days have been a bit uninspired. The project is posted here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/davekinnear/albums/72157662480566700 . I will also be continuing my photography education.
I do need to work on adjusting, though. I woke up, today, at 5:00 a.m., just as I did on work days. I worked out, had breakfast and finished some paperwork related to beginning my retirement. Since I am losing my company car, I went car shopping. The deal was done in an hour. I got out and made some photos, although the cold and the wind were discouraging. It is odd that everything used to take three times longer than it should Now, that I have time, everything gets done quickly and efficiently. I am told that the adjustment can take from two weeks to six months. I am looking forward to it!
